Trofholz Technologies, Inc. (TTI), a client of The Federal Technology Center (The FTC) since 2003, enjoyed a big win in November when they received their ISO 9001:2008 certification. Under the Mentor-Protégé Program, the U.S. Air Force selected EM-Assist, Inc., also a long time client of The FTC, to mentor TTI (Protégé) to achieve its ISO 9001 certification objective. The FTC assisted EM-Assist by providing TTI with ISO 9001 training and guidance in ISO Standard compliance. The project took over 22 months, with The FTC’s Bill Teeple providing the guidance, mentoring, and hands-on consulting throughout the entire process.
Bill Teeple performed an initial analysis of TTI’s quality management system (QMS) to establish a baseline. Then he worked closely with TTI’s Quality Manager, Mike Jackson, to further develop the documentation and processes needed to comply with ISO 9001:2008 Standard. Once the processes were in place, Teeple conducted several internal audits to verify TTI’s mastery of its processes and procedures. He also served as Lead Auditor for a final Gap Analysis Audit (GAA) in August 2009 which ensured that TTI was ready for the formal certification audit. The official certification audit was performed by an ISO Registrar and consisted of three challenging days of audits, analysis and interviews. Thanks to the integration of Teeple’s excellent consulting work and the efforts of TTI’s Quality Manager and staff, TTI received their certification in late November.

In 2008 TTI placed 17th on the Top 25 List of 8(a) companies published by Washington Technology Magazine. With ISO 9001 certification, TTI has increased its status in this elite circle; only half of the top 25 8(a) companies on the list are also ISO 9001:2008 certified. Becoming ISO 9001 certified is further evidence of TTI’s commitment to quality. TTI has always made quality a critical component of everything they do, as evidenced by their creed: Quality, Commitment, Creativity and Integrity. “At TTI we see quality as a business advantage and are extremely proud that our quality management system complies with the stringent ISO 9001:2008 Standard,” said Mike Jackson, TTI’s Quality Manager. TTI’s President and CEO, Yvonne Glenn, added, “TTI aggressively pursues excellence in everything we do, and having a certified quality management system is further evidence of our commitment to quality and to our customers.” |

The FTC assisted TTI in obtaining their 8(a) certification and has provided training for a number of TTI staff members in government contracting, purchasing and proposal review. Tom Gisler, CEO of The FTC states that, “We’re extremely proud to have played a significant role in TTI’s early success and their recent ISO 9001 certification. TTI is a classic example of what can result from sound advice and guidance, excellent leadership and hard work.”
