The company took their first step in contracting with federal agencies – CCR registration – in October 2007, attended The Federal Technology Center (The FTC) class entitled, Responding to RFPs (Request for Proposal) in January 2008, and proceeded to capture several contracts with a total value of over $5 million. Corners attributes the company’s success to several factors. One is to selectively pursue

the most appropriate jobs that fit the company’s core capabilities. Other factors include their willingness to pursue the selected opportunities anywhere in the country they may be located, finding quality

subcontractors local to the individual jobs, and bidding aggressively. “While capturing the contracts is key to success,” says Jim Corners, “it is also important to execute the work. Contract performance is essential to maintaining your business and securing future work.”

The FTC offers free workshops on topics such as Introduction to Federal Contracting and Federal Contract Administration to assist in effective contract management.
