Conference Illuminates How to Be a Successful SMUD Supplier
November 1, 2006
Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) executives and procurement professionals welcomed regional business owners to the first SMUD Suppliers Networking Conference and Power Player Awards Luncheon on November 1, 2006. This event, co-sponsored by SMUD and The Federal Technology Center, which drew 317 registrants, celebrated SMUD’s business partnerships and aimed to generate new sources of supply.

First Annual Placer County Super Seminar

On August 15, 2006 at the Sunset Center in Rocklin, California, The Federal Technology Center (The FTC) hosted the first of what we hope to be an annual Placer County Getting to Know Your Local Resources Super Seminar. With more than 230 registered for this event, the interest in how to do business with the various government agencies remains high. An introductory welcome was presented by Dave Snyder, the recently assigned Director, Placer County Office of Economic Development.

SMUD General Manager Affirms SMUD’s Commitment to Small Business
June 7, 2006
On Wednesday, June 7, 2006, Jan Schori, General Manager of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), welcomed more than 140 contractors to “Make Your Contracting Connection with SMUD,” which was presented in partnership with The Federal Technology Center (The FTC). Schori stated that, “We are committed to small business. In 2005, 422 contracts worth $32.5 million were awarded to local small businesses and the goal for awards to small business has been doubled for 2006.”

RT Primes & Subs Conference 2006 a Booming Success
January 10, 2006
Nearly 300 attendees, including representatives from 160 different businesses, convened for the 2nd Annual Sacramento Regional Transit Primes & Subcontractors Conference on January 10, 2006 for networking and potential partnering on contracts for the designing and building of Sacramento Regional Transit District’s planned light rail extensions which are expected to total more than $1billion.
