4th Annual RT Conference Offers Valuable Opportunities
January 17, 2008
“Great networking opportunity;” “Great opportunity to learn about future projects;” “Insight into doing business with RT;” and “valuable contacts” were a few of the many positive comments offered by attendees at the 4th Annual Primes & Subcontractors Conference and Golden Spike Awards Event hosted by Sacramento Regional Transit District (RT) and The Federal Technology Center on January 17, 2008. The attendees represented architect and engineering, professional services, construction, environmental, information technology, and equipment and material suppliers.
General Manager/CEO, Mike Wiley, and his executive management team provided future RT procurement plans in order to help businesses prepare to be successful in competing for contracts. Carol Bowyer, The FTC Senior Counselor/Instructor, moderated the prime and subcontractor panel that provided invaluable information on how attendees can successfully market their business and partner to compete for RT contracts.
Distinguished speakers at this popular event included Roberta MacGlashan, Chair of the RT Board of Directors and Sacramento County Board Supervisor; Assemblyman Roger Niello, California 5th Assembly District; Derrin J. Jourdan, Civil Rights Officer for FTA Region IX; and Ann Blazina, Caltrans’ Civil Rights. During lunch, attendees learned about the Regional Transit Master Plan for the Sacramento region.
Fernando Barcena, Senior Procurement and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Administrator for RT, discussed the federally mandated Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and RT’s aggressive small business outreach programs.
