Sacramento Regional Transit District Announces Golden Spike Award Winners at Sold-out Event

On January 24, Sacramento Regional Transit (RT) and The Federal Technology Center hosted the sold-out 3rd Annual Primes & Subcontractors Conference called “Ride into the Future with RT.” Attendees represented information technology, professional services, architect/engineering firms, environmental, construction, and equipment and material supplier business sectors.
Dr. Beverly Scott, General Manager and CEO for RT, addressed the vast opportunities becoming available as RT continues to expand and modernize its services. She emphasized the importance of learning what the Sacramento Master Transit Plan (MTP) includes and the billions of dollars of opportunity that the MTP will generate.
RT’s Executive Management Team shared how their areas of responsibility generate opportunity for small business. These key personnel also remained to network with the business owners and representatives.
Fernando Barcena, Senior Procurement and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Administrator for RT, discussed how RT utilizes small and DBE firms, and provided updates on these programs.
A roundtable discussion between project team members included an RT Procurement Analyst, Sue Glass; RT Resident Engineer, Greg Gamble; Bert Gross of 4Leaf, Inc., representing prime contractors; and Wendy Hoyt of The Hoyt Company, representing subcontractors. The team discussed the importance of communication, collaboration, planning, and following through with commitments made to ensure successful projects.
The conference culminated in the presentation of RT’s “Golden Spike” awards by Dr. Scott. Recipients of this distinguished award were: Mundle & Associates, Inc.; 4Leaf, Inc.; The Hoyt Company; EA Jones Consulting Group; Karen Antion Consulting, LLC; PRIDE Industries; InAlliance, Inc.; Psomas & Associates; Y&C Transportation Consultants, Inc.; Orsee Design Associates; B&C Transit Consultants; Cadre Design Group, Inc.; Schrader Architecture; and Orion Bus Industries, Inc.
