RT Primes & Subs Conference 2006 a Booming Success
January 10, 2006
Nearly 300 attendees, including representatives from 160 different businesses, convened for the 2nd Annual Sacramento Regional Transit Primes & Subcontractors Conference on January 10, 2006 for networking and potential partnering on contracts for the designing and building of Sacramento Regional Transit District’s planned light rail extensions which are expected to total more than $1billion. The sold-out event held at the Lions Gate Garden Pavilion, McClellan, California, was co-hosted by Sacramento Regional Transit (RT) and The Federal Technology Center (The FTC). During the conference, Dr. Beverly Scott, General Manager and CEO of RT, encouraged firms to start building partnerships now for the future major light rail expansion projects. The RT executive management team provided insight about upcoming projects and conveyed RT’s interest in gaining new quality partners. “As a result of the last RT event in 2005, six new IT vendors have been added to work with us on projects. We are pleased to have new businesses assist us with our IT needs,” states Roger Thorn, Director of IT/ITS, RT.
Many of the small businesses who participated on the recently completed Folsom Corridor Light Rail Extension were Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE), a federal small business development program.
