The FTC Hosts Rare Opportunity for California Businesses to Meet Defense Supply Center Columbus, Ohio (DSCC)
January 24 & 26, 2006

On January 24 in Sacramento and January 26, 2006 in Oakland, California,The Federal Technology Center (The FTC) hosted two classes presented by Vikki Hawthorne, Supplier Outreach Program Manager, Defense Supply Center in Columbus, Ohio (DSCC), part of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). This was a rare opportunity for California contractors, vendors and manufacturers to learn about how to sell to DSCC.

DSCC is one of the largest suppliers of weapons systems spare parts and manages more than 1.6 million different items for more than $2.3 billion in annual sales. DSCC is designated as the lead Inventory Control Point for land, maritime, and missile weapons systems. DSCC issues thousands of contracts each month, many for lower dollar amounts that may not be advertised through conventional government resources. Attendees learned how to obtain information about those opportunities.

Hawthorne also provided a detailed discussion on how to sell to the DSCC and included information on the Department of Defense E-Mall (www.emall.dla.mil) and the DLA preferred purchasing site, known as DIBBS (DLA Internet Bid Board System), www.dibbs.bsm.dla.mil.
