Regional Transit Conference Attracts Over 300 Participants
February 1, 2005

Three hundred prime contractors, Sacramento Regional Transit District Representatives, Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) and small businesses participated in the Sacramento Regional Transit (RT) District Primes and Subcontractors Conference held January 26, 2005 at McClellan Park’s Lionsgate Garden Pavilion.

The conference brought together prime contractors with potential subcontractors for a morning of networking and information sharing on planned RT expansion

projects that are expected to total more than $1 billion. Additionally, companies who supported recently completed expansion projects including the Folsom Light Rail Extension and Sacramento South Corridor Extension, who are DBE firms or used DBE firms as subcontractors, were recognized for their outstanding support. Seventeen firms with $500K or more in DBE participation received Golden Spike Awards for their achievements.

Dr. Beverly Scott, RT General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, encouraged firms to start building their partnerships now for the future major light rail expansion projects including the Downtown/Natomas/Airport project and the South Sacramento Corridor Phase II from Meadowview Road to Cosumnes River College. Additionally, RT managers discussed various other projects from information technology to inter-modal transportation.
