The FTC to Implement Statewide Program
November 19, 2003
The Defense Logistics Agency recently announced that
The Federal Technology Center (The FTC) has been selected to operate
a Statewide Procurement Assistance Program effective October 1, 2003.
For the first time since Congress established the Procurement Technical
Assistance Program in 1985, The FTC together with the Regional Centers
are chartered to provide procurement assistance services to ALL
businesses in California.
The FTC will continue to serve the businesses in its
current 10 county service
area, and will add staff to assist approximately
400,000 small businesses in an additional 37 counties. The "Statewide"
designation means that for the next five years, The FTC will be eligible
for additional federal funds, provided that all governmental entities
in the service area contribute the required local matching funds.

and the Los Angeles PTACs to supplement the services they provide to
the businesses in Fresno, Kern, and
Los Angeles counties. A listing

Programs

Congressman Doug Ose and Assemblyman Dave Cox announced The FTC's selection
to their colleagues in the Congress of the United States and the
California
Legislature. Congressman Ose, in making the announcement, said,
"My
staff and I are very proud of The FTC's successes on behalf of small
businesses; they have been a terrific resource for my constituents."
We are excited about our statewide designation and
the opportunity we have to
help small businesses throughout the state
successfully compete for government contracts. With the help of our
strategic partners and sponsors, we, and the small businesses we serve,
will do our part to improve the economy of California. To see a list
